Yesterday I had my family over to my place for Thanksgiving. This is my second year hosting the holiday's for my family and preparing most of the food. I made Maple Glazed Carrots, Pecan baked Brussel Sprouts, Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, and Hard Cider Gravy(Thanks Martha!). Mom cooked the Turkey.
I like to entertain and have parties for my friends, but it's not the same when I have my family over. As soon as they got here with the turkey, it was chaos in my 5'x6' kitchen, and a rush to get all the food on the table while it was still hot. Then we ate, had dessert, mom helped with the dished while dad took half the boys home, and then she left with my grandma shortly after. They were here for maybe... an hour?! No visiting afterward or anything. I had even made a cute little sitting room full of TREATS to lure everyone in. Why did I go through so much trouble? I'll have to find a way to trick them into staying longer on Christmas I guess.
I wish the holidays were the way they were when I was a kid. Everyone gathered at grandma's house, they visited with each other, ate together, and then visited some more. I hate this eat and run stuff.

Pet Troubles
Seems I just can't get a break these days. The last two years have been nothing but financial stress and worry for me. Things have been calm the last few months, but I would not be surprised if I broke my leg or my car exploded tomorrow with the way things have been going.
Paddington has always been my "special" cat, having a bum leg and being the runt that she is. Blair on the other hand, the super cat who was so big and smart and healthy... just ended up costing a fortune! Three times his bladder had to be unblocked before I finally agreed to the surgery, totally over $7,000 this year. He had to wear his cone for about two months before I finally felt comfortable removing it, but I'm still afraid he'll irritate himself and end up blocked again. I really do not have any more money, and if that happens he'll have to be put down. What a horrible thing to have to do after putting so much into... A CAT. Everyone thinks I'm crazy because he's, "just a cat".

This on top of my other bills stressing me out! The cats we owned while I was growing up were never this big of a hassle. I guess I just thought I'd get some cats, they'd be cats and I'd be me, the end.
Enough whining about them, here's some cute pictures of the buggers instead.

I ought to start preparing
We are leaving in a day and a half, I suppose I should start doing laundry, or packing or... something! This week cannot go by fast enough. I've already made maps to our main destinations, now Allison and I are planning the fun stuff. Old Town Pizza and the tour of the haunted tunnels, the flea market under the bridge, Mill Ends Park, etc. We also want to go out on the town at night, but we aren't sure where to go. We need a tour guide!
